The Cranleigh way is to uphold a vision for flourishing young people, where busy pupils lead fulfilled lives while developing the personal skills and qualities that will enhance their adult lives. People have always been at the heart of a Cranleigh education, and I am more convinced than ever before that developing people must be our priority.

Rooted in the School’s Christian foundation in 1865, our guiding values and principles are summarised in four words: service, relationships, leadership and excellence.

Our vision for Cranleigh begins with the lives and futures of Cranleighans. We express our vision through the three pillars of Cranleigh Thinking, Cranleigh Being and Cranleigh Giving.

Cranleigh Thinking is thinking beyond the test; Cranleigh Being is about who we are and how we are in the world, putting welfare at the heart; Cranleigh Giving is thinking beyond ourselves. Ultimately those who flourish, serve and lead in the future will be thinking, being, giving people.

I believe Cranleigh is well placed to achieve that purpose within the warmth and inclusiveness of a family atmosphere that comes from a mature co-educational boarding school which is large enough for diverse opportunities and small enough for everyone to be known, supported and encouraged.

Parents and pupils testify that Cranleighans enjoy everything the School has to offer and exceed expectations. They achieve at the highest level while typically retaining a quiet confidence without arrogance, an eagerness to serve and a sensitive appreciation of the needs of others.

Our teaching staff is eager to build on Cranleigh’s growing reputation for excellence. We are of course thrilled that our academic results at GCSE and A Level are the best they have ever been; that the School boasts national championship winning sports teams, and musicians and actors who are performing at the highest level, yet it is participation and opportunity for all that is the root of our success.

Our partner schools, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi and Cranleigh Changsha bring added richness and an exchange of ideas and culture to enhance our local boarding environment. The funds we receive from these ventures will help us to progress our aim to welcome children from more diverse backgrounds into our community. Our partnership with Kawama Community School in Zambia helps Cranleighans to understand the responsibilities to others their education requires.

Most importantly, please come and see the School for yourself, you will be most welcome and I look forward to meeting you.
