Mr Mark Tottman
At Dunottar we create a fun, supportive community which celebrates the individual progress of each pupil so that they grow in confidence to fly higher than they, or their parents, might have thought possible. Dunottar is a co-educational day school for pupils aged 11 to 18 and, as part of United Learning, the school benefits from the investment and expertise that comes from being part of a group, while retaining the individuality and special atmosphere that has made Dunottar so loved by its pupils and parents since it first opened its doors in 1926.
Lessons at Dunottar are inspiring; teachers are passionate about their subjects and encourage pupils to be inquisitive and to explore the broad, balanced curriculum on offer. Excellent teaching underpins innovative uses of technology which enhance the learning experience. The individual, personal approach at Dunottar enables pupils to forge their own path and exceed their personal goals; the 'added value' achieved by Dunottar pupils (the extent to which a pupil outperforms the GCSE grades predicted at age 11) is within the top 10% of schools nationally.
In this happy and vibrant community, pupils are encouraged to understand the role they play within their school and society as a whole. There is a strong moral core at the heart of the school where integrity, tolerance and acceptance are valued. Pupils enjoy an extensive co-curricular programme with a wide range of activities. Sport is an important part of school life and the facilities include an impressive sports hall, heated indoor pool, indoor cricket nets, pitches, courts and an athletics track, while relationships with local clubs extend the off-site facilities for rugby and cricket. Performing arts play a pivotal role in the life of the school, with choirs, ensembles and orchestras offering varied opportunities for performance.
With exceptional pastoral care throughout school and carefully tailored careers and higher education advice in Sixth Form, students leave Dunottar as happy, well-rounded, articulate, considerate young people ready to face the exciting challenges of university, work and adult life.
Based in a Palladian mansion within 15 acres of beautiful grounds, Dunottar combines the benefits of a spacious countryside setting with the convenience of a town centre location in Reigate.
Open mornings are held throughout the year and prospective parents and pupils are welcome to visit at any time.
