Word From The Head

Head Photo

From James Davies, Headmaster

Welcome to Halliford, a warm-hearted School based on strong family values where we are proud to know and be respectful of every student as an individual. Our theme ‘Come as you are, Go as all you can be’ perfectly encapsulates our mission to encourage and support Hallifordians to flourish and become the best version of themselves that they can possibly be during their seven-year journey with us from age 11 to 18.

We aim for excellence by being academically ambitious but at the same time, academically sensitive. We inspire Hallifordians within a community that is founded on high quality teaching and learning, outstanding pastoral care and first class sporting, cultural and co-curricular opportunities.

As young Hallifordians we recognise that a child's potential could lie anywhere - so we ensure that every student is exposed to a vast array of opportunities and experiences. We then pride ourselves on identifying and honing their strengths to make the most of their natural abilities, while working hard with them to develop any areas that might need further improvement. We are able to offer small class sizes which enable personalised teaching and learning strategies suitable for our boys. Our co-educational Sixth Form then provides all our students with the skills to excel in a more independent environment as they prepare to continue their educational journey beyond the Halliford community.

We recognise that the environment in which a child learns is just as important as what they learn. Renowned for our outstanding pastoral care, we work hard to create a community where our students can come together, where they are encouraged to flourish, where they can feel safe and comfortable, confident and proud, stimulated and inspired and, most of all, happy. We are extremely fortunate as a small school to have many outstanding facilities on our beautiful site nestled alongside the River Thames. The last two years have also seen the start of a significant development plan to enhance the facilities we offer our students in order to provide them with the very best environment in which to learn.

We challenge and support our students to make the most of their abilities but also to learn how to take responsibility for their progress. Students who need additional support are identified and nurtured to achieve their very best with the help of our Learning Support staff. This is a school where every achievement, however small, is noticed and every individual's successes are celebrated as a member of the Halliford family.

We offer a wide variety of co-curricular activities and trips where we aim to provide our students with the chance to immerse themselves in a whole host of activities and experiences outside the classroom.

Every young person at Halliford School counts and as their Headmaster I can ask nothing more from them other than that they strive to do their very best every day and to have the courage to be not ordinary but extraordinary.

I warmly invite you to come and visit us in person at our Open Days or to book an individual tour. There is no better way to experience the distinctive culture and ethos of our School and I look forward to welcoming you to see for yourself if it is the right School for your child's future education.

    Prospective Parent

Thank you for the wonderful letter last week confirming our son’s offer of a place at Halliford School. He is very excited about starting his Halliford journey in September, and I can confirm that we would like to accept the offer. The whole application procedure was excellent again this year (in...

    Current Parent

I just wanted to write to express my sincere gratitude to Mr Davies, all the amazing teachers and staff at Halliford for being simply brilliant during this second lockdown. My son has felt really supported during this period by the school and especially by the teachers. I have overhead some of the...

I am so proud to have my children attend Halliford School. This is a time where we see what is truly around us. You and your colleagues at Halliford care so deeply about our children’s education. Thank you for all the incredible efforts to run a Halliford school day as normal as possible and for...

    Old Hallifordian

Halliford School helped me to fulfil my academic potential in gaining a place to study at the University of Cambridge. Through having the opportunity to play high quality first team rugby, football and cricket during my time at school, supportive teachers and mentors ensured that I took full...

    Year 9 Hallifordian

Halliford means so many things to me, it is a school where I am constantly challenged to learn new things and I think the teaching we receive is fantastic. The school has recently introduced sessions on good mental health and I have found this helpful and I know lots of my friends have too. The...

    Old Hallifordian

I left Halliford in 2014 after seven wonderful years at the school from Year 7 through to Year 13. During my time, I appeared on stage in many a school production, travelled to several far-flung destinations, got tackled on the rugby pitch, sang with the school Jazz band and somehow managed to...
