15 year-old Matthew Eden is developing into a real musical star at Old Swinford Hospital.

In November he gained a distinction in his Grade 5 Theory with an extraordinary mark of 99/100. He also gained a distinction in his Grade 7 Trombone exam.

For the Old Swinford Hospital Michaelmas concert, he arranged a medley of well-known carols for the symphony orchestra which was performed to great acclaim.

Matthew, together with Nic Holmes, Alex Wooldridge, Chris George, Evan Rogers and Jonathan Eden, has formed a jazz ensemble called "Out of Time". The group have been entered for an ABRSM "Intermediate Jazz Ensemble' exam in the spring. They are also through to the regional rounds of "National Festival Music for Youth" on 16th March 2013 in Stoke-on-Trent.
