Gresham's leavers step out in Gatsby style

Published on isbi School News dated Wednesday 3rd of July 2013

The 2013 Gresham's Upper Sixth Form celebrated their time at the School with a Twenties themed Gatsby Ball held in a marquee in the School grounds. The Ball was the climax to a very exciting weekend which saw former pupil Olivia Colman return to the School for Speech Day and to present prizes to Gresham's Sixth Form leavers.

350 guests attended the Ball and started the evening with a champagne reception. There was a dazzling display of costumes and outfits in keeping with the Great Gatsby look, from flapper dresses to stunning avant-garde accessories. The Ball was organised by a Committee of willing parents and members of staff to ensure a truly memorable evening for leavers and their families. Kathy John, a member of the organising committee, said, 'Parents on the Ball committee were delighted with the success of the event, and even the weather decided to play its part!'

A delicious three-course meal was provided by Gresham's catering team in the beautifully decorated marquee, where a resident magician performed for guests at their tables. After dinner the guests danced the night away to Justin Myers and The American Dream Bootleggers, followed by a disco provided by Gresham's own resident DJs Chris Cooper and Sam Curtis.
