Girls at The Mount School, York are today celebrating following the national release of GCSE results

Published on isbi School News dated Tuesday 3rd of September 2013

Girls at The Mount School celebrate their GCSE success today with the highest A* to C pass rate against national trends. More than a quarter of the girls obtained at least 5 A* grades.
Eloise Lake achieved 9 A*s and 2 As and will be taking French and German as part of her A Level studies at The Mount with a view to then studying languages at university.
The Mount School values the contribution of languages to an all-round education and girls start French in Nursery and then German in Year 3. Contrary to the broader national concerns regarding the falling demand for A Levels in modern foreign languages, they remain a popular option at The Mount.
Following her selection for the UK finals of Poet Laureate Andrew Motion‟s Poetry by Heart‟ competition, Niamh Devlin achieved A*s in English and History, which she will also be studying at A Level.
Mary Fulford achieved an outstanding 8 A*s and 3 As and Georgina Ellis followed closely with 7 A*s and 3 As.
Principal of The Mount School, Julie Lodrick, today congratulated the Year 11 group, saying, 'At The Mount we give the girls plenty of opportunities for leadership: organising events, societies, groups and a bustling schedule of activities both inside and outside the School. We present them with a wider perspective on society, be it through voluntary work, engagement with political or environmental concerns or through the experience of the many cultures who make up our student body here at The Mount.'
Julie Lodrick concluded, 'A Mount education prepares girls to succeed in the world as it prepares them to change that world for the better. We are able to achieve that balance because the education we provide has an overwhelmingly global perspective.'
