Rockport Sailing Regatta

Rockport held its inaugural Sailing Regatta, at Ballyholme Yacht Club, on Friday, 13th September. Over forty pupils in the prep and senior schools have been learning to sail at the club twice a week and have been completing their RYA qualifications; therefore, it was considered important to put their skills to the test in a series of races.

Three events were raced - Novices (Laser Bahias), Intermediates (Laser Picos) and Elite (Toppers) - and the whole school spectated from the shore, where the PTA ran a wonderful marquee of food and refreshments. Results were: Novice Award - Nicholas Kenna, Alexander Hook, Olivia Dixon; Intermediate Award - Josie Allen, Sophie Shiel; Elite Award - Rory Fekkes.

It is hoped that pupils will soon be able to compete against other schools throughout the UK.
