Pupils at Bishop's Stortford College Prep School had great fun taking part in the Primary School section of Write Path, an international story and poetry writing collaboration for young people all over the world. Each day a published author or poet writes the first paragraph of a story or the first stanza of a poem, and six stories or poems are then worked on each day.The task for the ten and eleven year olds in Form 2JR was to continue a story which had been started by a famous children's author, then carried on by pupils in a school in Tasmania, before being sent on to Bishop's Stortford College.
The stories were concluded by pupils in a New York school, so the words were literally whizzing around the world. It was a frenetic, but extremely fun hour and half, with the pupils deciding how to develop the stories, editing and redrafting their versions before posting onto the web.
On National Poetry Day, it was the turn of Form L3ID, who took part in the poetry challenge, which they described as 'fun', 'challenging' and 'fantastic'.
All of the pupils involved are looking forward to seeing the publication of their words in a collected volume later in the year. In the meantime the pupils' stories and poetry continuations can be found at http://writepath.ning.com
