Last Tuesday, sixty-three enthusiastic boys from Bishop's Stortford College Prep School ventured over to Allianz Park, the home of Aviva Premiership league leaders, Saracens. The Upper and Lower Shell (year 3 and 4) boys were treated to a tour of the state of the art stadium and facilities, including the players' changing rooms, warm up area and the directors' box.
Following on from the fascinating behind the scenes tour, the boys then had a session on the state of the art 3G pitch. The Saracens coaches put the boys through their paces focusing on evasion and tackling skills before playing some small-sided games.
The trip was organised by College Head of Rugby James Reyburn, who commented, 'We currently have a strong partnership with Saracens which benefits all of our pupils from the U8s in the Prep School through to the Senior School 1st XV. This trip involving our seven to nine year olds is a classic example of some the initiatives and opportunities at the College; one the Shell boys enjoyed immensely.'
