Associated British Ports, Grimsby, Deputy Port Manager, Simon Brett, told pupils at Hull Collegiate School to 'learn a European language'.

Speaking as part of the school's European Day for Year 9 pupils, Mr Brett said that language skills had helped his own career and that, whilst learning languages was hard work, the rewards were definitely worthwhile.

European Day includes a European Quiz, a marketing activity, a Swedish language lesson and a European themed lunch.

'It was a very enjoyable and positive day. Pupils need to understand the importance of Britain's involvement in Europe' said Mr Gordon Stephenson, Head of MFL.
