'The Arkwright Trust was established in 1991 by D/T teachers keen to promote careers in engineering amongst Year 11 pupils. It invites high ability 15/16 year old D/T students who are planning to study Maths and Physics at A level, to apply for an Arkwright Scholarship as they start their 'A' Level courses. Candidates must pass a rigorous selection process and commit to being an Ambassador for flourishing Design/Technology and Maths Departments in their Schools.' [Source: Arkwright Website]

After completing an application form, exam and a gruelling series of interviews, Alex was awarded the prestigious Engineering Scholarship in October at an event at the Institute of Engineering and Technology in London.

Alex is successfully fulfilling all of the obligations required of him for the award and once he has completed his A levels he has plans to go on and study Chemical Engineering at university.
Head teacher Mrs Horner comments that 'The award is testament to all the hard work and effort put in by many staff at the College but particular praise must go to Alex's Design Technology teacher, Mr Dave Stockley, for supporting Alex throughout the whole process. Alex is a very talented student and we are confident that he will continue to succeed highly in the future'.

Alex thoroughly deserves this recognition and he continues to be an excellent all round A level student and a first class ambassador for the College.
