The first ever State Boarding Schools' Sports Festival was held at Old Swinford Hospital on 17 March. Over 500 students from 13 schools throughout the country travelled to Stourbridge to compete in rugby, football, cross country, netball, basketball and dance tournaments.

Headmaster Peter Jones said 'We were delighted to host this inaugural event celebrating the 21st anniversary of the SBSA. It was wonderful to see so many students enjoying their sport and we look forward to entering teams next year.'

'OSH is renowned for its sporting heritage and our superb sports facilities were put to full use, including the new sports ground at Treherns Fields, Hagley for the cross country and our new all weather MUGA for netball'

The Andy Boorman Memorial Trophy for 'Player of the Tournament' was awarded to 13 year old Denyl Daniel of the Royal Alexandra and Albert School for his efforts on the football pitch. Mr Boorman, Vice Principal (Director of Boarding) Wymondham College and former Director of Sport, sadly died aged only 50 in October 2010.
