Published on isbi School News dated Wednesday 2nd of September 2015

Following on from the record breaking A Level results which placed St Mary’s as one of the top schools in the South West, the GCSE results are equally pleasing and the best for many years with 31% A* and 85% A*-B. A large number of girls are celebrating straight A*/A, but the success is spread across the year group as St Mary’s is renowned for its enormous value added. These results provide a secure foundation for this outstanding cohort as they begin the sixth form in September. “The results just get better every year”, commented Richard James, Headmaster. “The achievements are even more impressive if you consider all the other commitments the girls have. They make the most of opportunities to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, perform in school productions, concerts, sports and the many academic and fun societies and activities on offer. This fantastic year group have fully participated in all aspects of school life whilst working hard to achieve these great results. Our philosophy is to educate the whole person and these girls are certainly testimony to that”. Combining traditional values with modern facilities, small class sizes, inspiring and dedicated teaching, St Mary’s is a forward thinking school that fosters individual success and is achieving outstanding results at GCSE and A-Level. Richard James added, “Naturally I am pleased that my final set of results are excellent but I am even more excited for the future of the school with Mrs Mary Arnal succeeding me in January with the academic reputation of St Mary’s continuing to be so strong. Not only an academic herself but a lady of great faith with huge experience and a real commitment to independent education for girls; she joins me in congratulating the girls”.
