Leweston Old Girl to Join a Research Team at the Cambridge University Molecular Biology Lab

Published on isbi School News dated Tuesday 19th of April 2011

Leweston old girl, Natalia Wroblewska who left Leweston in 2010 to read Medicine at Trinity College Cambridge, has been selected to work under Dr Andrew Carter at the world famous Molecular Biology lab in Cambridge over the summer.

Dr Carter's research focuses on dynein (a motor protein in cells). A summary of his research can be seen below. Natalia will be adding fluorescent markers to different places on dynein to see what conformational changes it undergoes upon binding of ATP, which causes it to move along the microtubules in a cell.

To be selected to assist with this type of research is an incredible achievement for a first year undergraduate. We wish Natalia and the team the best of luck with the research.
