Students from St Benedict’s School in Ealing have received offers from Oxford University: Don Danilov to read Chemistry at University College, Alex Levy for Philosophy & Theology at Jesus College, Natalie Maalouf for Medicine at Brasenose College and Evie Gracie-Barnes (last year’s Upper Sixth) for English Literature at Magdalen College. Stefan Scicinski, Director of Sixth Form, commended them on successfully coming through a very rigorous selection process at one of the world’s top universities. The students hope to follow a distinguished line of St Benedict’s alumni who have studied at Oxford, among them Lord Patten of Barnes, the school’s Patron. During his last visit in November at the Sixth Form Scholars Evening, Lord Patten spoke very warmly and with great gratitude about his education at St Benedict’s. He exhorted the Scholars to make the most of the opportunities available to them and to aim high. Chris Cleugh, Headmaster, congratulated the students on their success: “This is a wonderful personal achievement for them and a reflection on the high level of teaching, academic support and enrichment opportunities available here at St Benedict’s. We wish them well in their A Levels this summer.”
