As part of Fairtrade Fortnight the Fairtrade Committee led morning assembly on Wednesday 2nd March. Fairtrade Assembly 2016 Ahead of the assembly, the Fairtrade Committee set a challenge: the Pupil Councillor from each Form was asked to pick a Fairtrade item out of a hat and one lucky individual from each Form had to dress as that item for assembly. The resulting Fairtrade Fashion Show was fantastic including a sugar cube, Mr Honey, Soaper Man and a pineapple! Pupils also acted out a story of how tea is grown in Kenya and how the Fairtrade farmers there benefit from the Fairtrade premium. The assembly was a great way to raise pupils' awareness of The Fairtrade Foundation's mission which is about achieving better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers.
