On Friday 10th June Queen Margaret's School, Escrick, played host to its first Junior Rounders Tournament. With over 130 girls representing nine different schools the event was a great success.

In spite of the grey weather, eight schools travelled to QM to play rounders in two tournaments. Belmont Grosvenor, Cundall Manor and Terrington Hall took on each other in the Under 9s tournament with Cundall Manor taking first place, Terrington Hall coming in second and Belmont Grosvenor third. In the Under 11s tournament eight schools took part with Queen Margaret's adding a team to make the two pools equal. Girls from Bramcote School, Copmanthorpe Primary School, Cundall Manor School, Dunnington School, Riccall primary School, Selby Abbey School and Terrington School competed against each other. Following some fierce competition Cundall Manor faced Terrington Hall in the final with Terrington Hall claiming victory.

Director of Sport at Queen Margaret's, Anne Davies, commented 'Our first Junior Tournament was a great success and we were thrilled to have so many schools who attended. Congratulations to all the girls who took part, it was a fantastic day of sporting action for children of all ages and abilities.'
