Having won their quarter-final match against Bede’s, the Prep School 1st XI travelled to St. Edward’s, Oxford, to play their semi-final match against Caldicott in the RNCF National Prep Schools Finals on Thursday 23rd June. Caldicott were first to bat, finishing on 132 for 9 from their 20 overs. Mr Barnard commented that ‘William and Edward put together an outstanding partnership of 83 in the next 11 overs’ The final result was Caldicott 132 – 9, Bishop’s Stortford College 124 – 3. The team then played in the 3rd/4th play off against St. Olave’s from York. St. Olave’s batted first and made 108 all out. Jared then batted well for Bishop’s Stortford College to finish unbeaten on 25. The final result was St. Olave’s 108 all out, Bishop’s Stortford College 68 – 8. Prep School teacher Mr Barnard said, ‘To have come so close to victory in the semi-final against Caldicott, the eventual winners, was a tremendous effort and the boys can be very proud of their success in the tournament.’
