Three senior cadets from St Benedict's School, Ealing were fortunate to gain places on this year's Cadet Leadership Courses, run by HQ Land Forces in Nesscliff Training Camp, Shropshire. LCpls Alec Snell-Navarro, Gregory Newton Jones and Hussain Sadiq joined 120 cadets from Army, Navy and Air Training Corps units across the country for an intensive and physically demanding week, culminating in a two day overnight exercise involving various competitive field-based activities in a tactical scenario.

LCpl Snell-Navarro attended Week One. Both he and his section did particularly well in the Orienteering competition and final exercise, and won the Inter-Section Competition. Week Two saw LCpls Gregory Newton Jones and Hussain Sadiq attend the course. Both were chosen for key roles within their sections and impressed their Platoon staff with their leadership skills. The competition was a close run affair and LCpl Sadiq's section won, with LCpl Newton Jones' a close second.

LCpl Newton-Jones summed up the week. 'The course gave me an opportunity to improve my leadership qualities and fieldcraft skills; the pressure from platoon and course staff was intense'. LCpl Sadiq added, 'This was a great opportunity to develop a practical understanding of Fieldcraft which I can now pass on to my junior Cadets'.

Capt Alistair Grant, the SSI for St Benedict's Combined Cadet Force, commented. 'The results for St Benedict's School CCF could not have been better. All three cadets acquitted themselves with distinction and they will be using this experience next year, as leading members of the CCF, to help develop the cadets under their command.'
