Abbey Gate College recently hosted its first Sports Awards evening to celebrate the numerous pupil success stories at the school. Former Great Britain Hockey player Chloe Rogers joined the school in acknowledging the school’s sporting stars and also took the time to show off her skills to pupils. The awards at the Chester-based school recognised those who have excelled in team and solo sports at the school as well as awarding those who dedicate time outside of the school to other sporting activities. Amongst the categories were elite excellence in numerous sports, overall contribution to sport for each year group, and most valuable and most improved player. Head of PE Chris Cutler said: “As a school Abbey Gate College is committed to not only proving excellent sporting facilities and resources but also recognising each child and their potential. The awards were about not only awarding the best players but also those who have shown dedication, passion and the drive to improve. “We are extremely proud of all our pupils who are committed to excelling in any area they are enthusiastic about.”
