Judge's decision - House Drama 2016

Published on isbi School News dated Wednesday 26th of October 2016

The Four Houses at Pocklington School battled it out for two prizes at the House Drama Festival 2016: Best Actor and Best Show, which took place over two nights last week. The popular theme of Musicals produced very different interpretations. Gruggen challenged expectations with a version of Nightmare Before Christmas, from the Tim Burton animation; Wilberforce used a band to support their lively Oliver; Hutton chose to sing beautifully from Matilda, unaccompanied; while Dolman rocked the theatre with Annie. On both evenings, the students performed to a full house. Terrific performances were seen from from Miss Hanigan, Pumpkin Jack, Fagin and Bill Sykes, Matilda and her evil Headmistress. The winners were Gruggen (for the third time) and Sam Hird as Pumpking Jack. For Sam this is a record-breaking four wins in a row. And no, the judge had no idea who won it the previous year! Our thanks must go to The Reverend Les Slow, Pocklington School Governor, for superb speeches and decision making and of course, to all who took part. Well done!
