Author Discusses Debut Novel with Sixth Form Book Club

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 17th of November 2016

Bishop’s Stortford College A level English students had the opportunity to sit down with author Hina Belitz on Wednesday 9th November and discuss her novel ‘Set Me Free’, which they had been reading as part of the Sixth Form Book Club. The novel deals with subjects such as abusive relationships and arranged marriages, and prompted much debate. The visit also allowed the students to ask Hina questions about the writing and publishing process. Sixth Form student Margot commented, ‘this was a wonderful opportunity. Hina answered some interesting questions about the structure of the novel and the idea behind it. She gave all of us great insight into what the publishing process is actually like.’ Hina will be returning to the College on Monday 6th February as part of the Bishop’s Stortford College Festival of Literature. ‘Talking Talent’ will be an evening with four local writers, including Hina, who will speak about their careers in writing. Tickets for this event are now available from www.bishopsstortfordcollege.org/3575/festival-of-literature-2nd-9th-february-2017
