Published on isbi School News dated Monday 23rd of October 2017

Two Bishop’s Stortford College pupils have been selected to represent England in their respective sports: Sixth Form student and Captain of the 1st XV rugby team Cameron Boon has been selected for the U18 England Rugby squad and will start training with the team during half term, while Senior School pupil, Katie Whitehead, has gained a place in the England U16 Rounders squad. This is not the first time Cameron has been called upon to represent England, having played in the England U17s against France earlier this year. As a member of the Saracens Academy, while still only 17, Cameron has also played in U18 matches in the Saracens Academy League and represented Ireland in the Clubs and Schools U18s v Portugal. Andre Beukes, Director of Rugby at Bishop’s Stortford College said, “We are very proud of Cameron, who is an important member of our unbeaten 1st XV. We look forward to following him in future matches but we’ll miss him during our tour to Portugal this half term”. At the England Rounders Festival held at Bishop's Stortford College in May, Katie Whitehead was nominated as Player of the England Rounders Festival. This will have brought her to the attention of selectors as Katie was offered a place in the England U16 squad following trials on Sunday 15th October. Kay Adkins, Head of Rounders at Bishop’s Stortford College, said, “This is an excellent achievement for Katie, and very impressive as she is an U15 player”. The College wishes both Katie and Cameron the very best of luck.
