Top marks for IB Student!

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 5th of January 2012

Gresham's is delighted to announce that Connie Birch, who sat her International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2011, achieved a perfect 45 points. History teacher, Simon Kinder had challenged her results as it was clear from reviewing her examination papers that she had been harshly marked. Having been predicted full marks, she missed out by only 1 point but she was delighted to have her appeal upheld.

Generally, about 80% of Diploma Programme students are awarded the Diploma each examination session. Fewer than 0.2% of students gain 45 points! This puts Connie within a group of only 133 students globally, a remarkable achievement!

Connie who was Head of School and a boarder at Gresham's has gone on to University College London to read History.

Mark Seldon, International Baccalaureate Diploma Co-ordinator at Gresham's commented 'This is our fifth year of running the IB Diploma Programme at Gresham's and, while every Diploma student has achieved their own personal successes, we are incredibly proud to have seen Connie scale this particular height.'
