In positive psychology, a flow state, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus; full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Of late St James feels like it is moving in the ‘flow’ state. Even though we have had staff absences resulting from Covid everyone has stepped up to cover and take responsibility without even being asked. This is when you know a team is performing well.

We have also played eight rugby matches and have a 100% success win rate since half term. In Hockey we also achieved bronze in the ISA Nationals, a fantastic achievement. Jeremy Clarke, our Hockey Coach, is an unsung hero who just gets on with it; no ego but great achievement!

Great to see extended school events re-established. The Year 7 Parents’ Dinner was extremely well attended and it was a really super atmosphere. New friendships were formed and community was established. Mr Deb spoke well and one could see why he is so highly respected. Sunday was our Remembrance Service organised by Captain Fletcher and Lieutenant Johnson. Over 200 parents attended and the full Cadet Corp paraded and were inspected by Commander Hayes who was one of the founders of the St James Corp. Father Rob officiated and our chairman of Governors at Ashford, Mr Story, attended. It was a reverential and profound event.
