Freddie Flintoff and the BBC film at Denstone College for new TV Show

Published by Denstone College on Thursday 7th of July 2022

This July sees the launch of Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams on BBC One. The show airs for the first time on 5th July and shows Freddie Flintoff teach cricket to reluctant children from his hometown of Preston. Freddie is determined to prove that anyone can play competitive cricket, whatever their background.
In episode 3, Freddie and his team visit Denstone College in rural Staffordshire to play a fixture against a team from the college as well as engaging with pupils and having a tour of the college.
Head of Denstone College, Lotte Tulloch describes the show as ‘Brilliant, heartwarming and humbling TV’.
Andy Tattersall, Marketing Manager at Denstone College comments “The visit saw the two teams meet, have a tour around Denstone College and play a game of cricket on an absolutely beautiful day. Whilst the game was important, the visit from Freddie Flintoff and his team also was a great reminder that no matter the background, sport should be accessible for all and no matter what stereotypes surround sports like cricket, it is still very much a game for all. Denstone College and The Prep at Denstone College follow a similar ethos, aiming to inspire pupils into being the kind of people who are able to make a difference in the world”
You can watch Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 5th July.
