GCSE Results 2022

Published by Sherborne Girls on Tuesday 6th of December 2022

Following on from Thursday’s outstanding A Level results, Sherborne Girls in Dorset is celebrating the achievement of its Upper Fifth (Year 11) pupils today who have secured a fantastic set of GCSE results.

After two educationally challenging years for their entire cohort, including online/remote learning, we are delighted that our largest ever GCSE year group have secured results for which they can be truly proud. With over 73% of GCSEs sat being awarded grades 9 to 7 (A*/A), this represents our best public examination results. With top results across all areas of the curriculum, from Humanities, Arts and STEM subjects alike, we are so pleased to be able to celebrate these wonderful achievements with the girls, their parents, and the staff who taught, guided, and supported them.

On an individual level 30 pupils achieved 10 or more 9-7 (A*/A grades) and all girls achieved one or more 9-7 grade. This demonstrates the outstanding individual talent, resilience and courage of the pupils at Sherborne Girls.

Special mentions go to Laria Campbell, Vivian Ji and Olivia Marriage who achieved straight 9 grades. A further 11 pupils were awarded an 8 or a 9 in all of their examinations.

Commenting on the results, Head, Dr Ruth Sullivan said, “Congratulations to all the girls who worked so hard to achieve these excellent results. There are some amazing individual achievements, and we are extremely proud of all the girls, especially as so many of them are involved in such a broad range of other activities including Community Service, Music, Drama, Sport, CCF and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, to a high level. I am also delighted that pupils at our brother school, Sherborne School have performed just as well, securing some excellent examination grades.”

We look forward to welcoming this year group into the Sixth Form, along with new girls joining in September, and are sure that they will build upon this excellent foundation as they embark on their A Level programme and enjoy myriad benefits of our unique relationship with Sherborne School.
