All Will Be Well

Published by The Mulberry House School on Tuesday 3rd of January 2023

Earlier in the year the V&A and V&A Museum of Childhood made a national call-out to schools to reflect on this unique moment of global crisis when normal schooling, playing with friends, visiting family and leaving the house freely have become so restricted. Using the imagery of rainbows, first conceived by families in the Lombardy region in Italy, children were asked to consider the phrase ‘Andrà Tutto Bene’ translated as ‘All Will Be Well’ to produce individual responses to the pandemic.

From drawings and banners to handwritten notes, the children of The Mulberry House School created art pieces, which preserved a rich portrait of life under lockdown. Creating a rainbow design offered the children an opportunity to express themselves creatively, feel part of a powerful collective movement, and show their appreciation for the NHS.

Several works from children at The Mulberry House School have been selected for display and will be placed in the world-leading V&A Museum of Childhood’s permanent collection.

From now until the 21st February, why not step inside the V&A and revisit the powerful moment ‘rainbows’ became an international signal of hope.
