We are so proud to have achieved for the second year running the National Mental Health and Wellbeing Accreditation, having successfully completed a comprehensive mental health and wellbeing training programme demonstrating its commitment to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of staff and pupils in line with DfE guidance and best practice.

LVS Hassocks has received a National Mental Health & Wellbeing Accreditation for successfully engaging the whole school in building a culture where mental health and wellbeing is placed at the heart of decision making.

The National College is the streaming home for high-quality professional development for schools, providing everything schools need to strengthen, manage and evidence their professional development in one place, on one platform. Joe Stoney, co-founder of The National College, said: “Congratulations to everyone at LVS Hassocks on achieving their National Mental Health & Wellbeing Accreditation. By completing our training programme, the school has shown its strong commitment to developing an environment where both children and staff feel supported, valued and can thrive.

Our Principal, Jen Weeks said “Mental health support has been a huge focus at LVS Hassocks over the last few years and is a key priority on our school development plan. In July 2022 we trained up 16 of our staff on the 2 day Mental Health First Aid Award, undertaken training on how to support emotional resilience, gained accreditation in SleepRight to help advise and support parents whose children may be struggling with sleep along with investing CPD time in to the National College modules for all staff and governors to complete. We are delighted for the second year running to be able to show our commitment to developing our knowledge on mental health through the accreditation via the National College.”

“The DfE and Public Health England (PHE) both stress the importance of a whole school approach to mental health in order to secure better outcomes for pupils but this requires engagement and investment from all staff. We’ve armed schools with the knowledge and skills they need to understand their responsibilities and how to react in the best way possible to any problems.”
