Lingfield College Opens New Baby Room for Youngest Pupils

Discover Lingfield College Nursery's brand new baby room, The Cocoon – a bright and contemporary space for infants to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment.

Lingfield College Nursery has officially opened its brand new baby room – The Cocoon – for children aged six months and above. At the special unveiling, Headmaster, Mr Richard Bool, was joined by the Head of Prep School, Mrs Jacky Shackel and Nursery Manager, Mrs Tiffany Vickery, to declare the baby room open.

The Nursery, located within the beautiful grounds of the Prep School on the outskirts of Lingfield, provides childcare facilities for up to 60 children up to the age of 5. The addition of the new baby room now means the Nursery, which was fully refurbished in the Summer of 2022, offers three spacious and contemporary open-plan rooms for babies through to Pre-School.

We are delighted to be able to offer excellent wrap-around care from 6 months for our parents; The pressure to return to work and need for high-quality childcare has never been greater. At Lingfield College Nursery, we recognise that a child's first five years are a critical time for their long-term development. We are dedicated to providing the very best start in early education for our youngest pupils, and The Cocoon is a wonderful addition to our outstanding facilities, enabling us to nurture children from a very early age.


Head of the Nursery, Tiffany Vickery, also expressed her pride in the Nursery's unique setting and range of facilities, “Our rich curriculum is delivered by Early Years Practitioners who provide a wonderful array of introductory experiences and activities to stimulate small minds and stretch imaginations. Nursery Children have access to specialist teachers in Music, Languages, and Sports. We also run weekly Forest School sessions in our onsite area, where the children can explore the natural environment outside, developing a deeper understanding of the world around them and offering practical learning experiences to build problem-solving skills, independence, and resilience.“

The brand new baby room, named The Cocoon, is for ages six months to 2 years and precedes Butterflies and Caterpillar Classes. The contemporary designed rooms, which are bright and airy, primarily use natural materials carefully chosen to aid child development and set out to be a sensory exploration for the children, including age-appropriate toys and furnishings, textures, lights and sounds. The room also contains an integrated changing facility and sleep pods with soft lighting and soothing music.
