Digital-savvy students from ACS International School Cobham showcased their unique Augmented Reality (AR) design solutions to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, at the world’s largest education technology show, the BETT Show in London.

Students from the school’s Digital Design Club, all aged 10 – 14, presented their designs alongside Academia, an organisation which helps schools and other institutions get the very best from their technology, and ensuring digital technology is being used effectively.

Lyndsey Stuttard, Digital Teaching and Learning Specialist at ACS International School Cobham, who has recently been shortlisted at the Pearson Teaching Awards for digital innovation, said:

"Through our digital club, our Middle School students have had the opportunity to leverage the power of AR and 3D digital design. So far, students have been tasked with developing designs that make learning spaces at school more accessible for learners, encouraging native plant and animal specials to thrive on thier school campus, and creating appliances to make a house more a 'home'."

At the school’s Digital Design Club, students have used a variety of digital design tools to bring their ideas to life in immersive ways. One Grade 6 student created a diverse garden with wildflowers and logs aimed at encouraging more bees and insects to thrive, all built on a lidar scanned 3D model of the physical campus space used.

ACS Cobham champions digital innovation as a way to enhance all students' learning during their time at school: the Early Childhood and Lower School were named a prestigious Apple Distinguished School for 2022–2025 in recognition of its innovative one-to-one iPad and MacBook Air provision, helping all students to learn digital skills fit for today’s world.
