Adventurous Year 9 Pupils Enjoy Duke Of Edinburgh Weekend

Last weekend, nearly 90 Year 9 students embarked on an adventure as they completed their practice weekend for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award.

DofE is a fantastic program that encourages resilience, independence, and initiative and has helped thousands of young individuals.

The group had good weather as they enjoyed navigating around the local area, visiting the Chess River and the Grand Union Canal.

The Duke of Edinburgh scheme was first established in 1954, primarily for boys. However, the program has since evolved to include girls as well. Its core focus remains on volunteering, physical activity, skills acquisition, and expedition.

It is wonderful to hear our pupils talking about how they have faced challenges together; including the perils of navigation, working well as a team when things get a bit tough, and all of the fun, laughter, and memories that go with this.- Ms Rachel Bailey, Head of Senior School
