Congratulations On GCSE Results

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 24th of August 2023

Congratulations to (outgoing) B year pupils, who today 24 August 2023, received their GCSE results; over 1 in 5 of all grades awarded were 8s and 9s, with over 1 in 3 of all grades awarded being above a 7.

In England, the proportion of top grades awarded (7 and above) has fallen to 1 in 5 in line with pre-pandemic results.

Commenting on the results Richard Jones, Head, said "I am delighted to see our cohort achieve such a positive set of results. They should all be proud of their achievements which is a culmination of two years preparation and hard work. With our unique Bryanston method, our GCSE pupils are taught academic content in an environment that promotes self-discipline, initiative and the ability to plan one’s time. This means they are well prepared for sixth form study, whether that be in A-levels or IB."

Reflecting the hard work of the last two years, one pupil achieved 103 points in total, having been awarded seven 9s and five 8s, and a second pupil achieved ten 9s and one 8. Eight pupils averaged more than 8 points in total.

Deputy Head Academic, Mark Deketelaere, commented: “These grades are a pleasing end to a challenging two years and reflect the efforts that these students have put into their studies. Like all pupils in the country, this year group have grappled with a great deal of uncertainty and disruption, showing great resilience during that time. We hope that they can now build on these foundations and make the most of the opportunities they have in the sixth form.”
