The Helen Porter Hall was filled with the vibrant sounds of house music as the House Music Competition took place throughout the afternoon on Wednesday, with the final competition in the evening, when talented pupils showcase their musical skills, with the bid to win the prestigious Sherratt Cup, named after the former Dean Close Director of Music, Colin Sherratt. This year's competition saw exceptional performances across all categories, leaving this years adjudicator, Mr David McKee, Director of Music at Cheltenham College, with a difficult task to determine the winners.

In the initial class, Harry Butcher on the French horn wowed the audience with his impeccable technique and musicality, earning him the first win of the day. In the intermediate class, Cassian Pichler-Roca on the piano delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing his exceptional piano skills.

The senior wind and brass class was highly competitive, with each participant delivering a performance that was second to none. Jamie Richardson on the trumpet, however, stood out with his impressive sound and perfect intonation, earning him the win.

The piano category was the final one, and it was no surprise that the competition was fierce. Ivan Yeung, however, delivered a flawless performance, showcasing his exceptional technical ability and musicality, earning him the win in the piano category.

Mr McKee had a difficult task of choosing the overall winner of the Colin Sherratt Cup, as all the category winners had delivered exceptional performances. In the end, Ivan Yeung on the piano was named the overall winner, showcasing his incredible talent and musical prowess.

As the competition drew to a close, it was time to announce the winning house, and this year, it was Dale House who took the top spot.
