Music Trip To King Edwards

Fifteen Year 6 musicians enjoyed a short trip out with Mr Lawrence and Miss Heffernan to the lunchtime recital at the Ruddock Hall at King Edward’s School this week.  We joined a packed audience including a large group from another primary school to listen to three stunning solo performances from sixth formers at KES and KEHS.  Tuneful Schubert on viola, dramatic and fleet fingerwork in a Beethoven sonata on piano and thrilling Saint-Saëns on violin; two of these amazing performances were completely from memory:  enthusiastic applause rewarded each soloist.  At the end, as usual, KES Director of Music Martin Leigh talked to the two visiting schools and got them to ask questions of the soloists.  A most enjoyable lunchtime excursion.
