Year 1 Visit The British Schools Museum To Learn About Victorian Toys!

Published by Kingshott School on Friday 2nd of February 2024

On Thursday afternoon Year 1 visited the Hitchin British Schools Museum for a Toy Workshop to support their History topic of 'A step into the past'.

The children made their own moving toys, and had the opportunity to play with a selection of replica toys from the Victorian times.  The staff at the museum explained how the various toys work and how toys were different long ago compared to toys today.

Year 1 also enjoyed playing some playground games such as hopscotch, hoops, riding hobby horses and skittles. Overall, it was a very interesting and enjoyable afternoon for the children - they came away with a lot more knowledge about children and toys from the Victorian era.
