A Level And BTEC Success

Published by The Duke of York's Royal Military School on Thursday 17th of August 2023

Students at The Duke of York’s Royal Military School, near Dover, are celebrating success at A Level with some 40% of grades being A* - B, BTEC with an average of Distinction, and some 70% achieving A* - C grades.

Despite the dip in national results, standards at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School have been maintained. Dukies now head off to university, joining highly competitive courses, while others have chosen apprenticeships or begin military careers.

Outstanding individual successes includes: Ben Thorne amassing a staggering 172 points to study visual effects and animation at Portsmouth. Archie Clyde looks forward to reading History at Sheffield, Anna Gathergood to read Economics at Newcastle, Hanniel Saumaka to study Criminology at Birmingham and Angel Umensofor to study Medicine at Nottingham. Taffy Ekwe has achieved a place at the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania to read Computer Science and BioMed. Stanley Bull and Alivia Hollands achieved extremely high BTEC and A level results to further their studies in the sporting industry. Archie Clyde and Daisy Crowton received a full army university scholarship that covers fees and tuition, 2 of 100 nationally. Daisy is looking forward to studying Engineering at Plymouth. Several students have exciting apprenticeship opportunities, William Diallo PriceWaterhouseCooper, Zain Seeger-Hussain AirBus, Bradley Cox Amazon and Adam Murcott Scania.

Principal Alex Foreman said "as England’s only state full boarding school, we constantly take full advantage of our boarding environment that surrounds students with great staff. Dukies are immersed in a breadth of activities beyond the classroom, developing strong character and diverse life skills, driven by our core values. The resilience our Dukies have shown is remarkable; they are all exceptional, inspiring, and talented young people and we couldn’t be prouder of them. As a result, I am certain they will look to their futures with huge confidence and back on their time here with fierce pride.”
