Anthony Orton Wins Suffolk LTA Coach Of The Year Award

Published by Culford School on Thursday 14th of March 2024

Congratulations to our Senior Performance Coach and Head of Mini Tennis, Anthony Orton, on winning the Suffolk LTA Coach of the Year Award. Anthony's commitment to his self-development and his players has been admirable. Whilst leading some top players in the Culford programme to Tennis Europe success, he has also developed a highly promising group of mini-tennis players who have the potential to make it into our RPDC programme.

On receiving this award, Anthony shared, ''I've worked at Culford since 2013 and seeing us grow into one of the top tennis schools in the country and a LTA Regional Player Development Centre has made me extremely proud.

Recently, I took the role of Head of Mini Tennis. My passion is supporting players throughout their journey, challenging them to develop not only their tennis skills, but the skills they need for life. My team at Culford are hugely passionate, and it's brilliant to be a part of a community that always strives for excellence.

I'm very honoured to be awarded Suffolk LTA Performance Coach of the Year. This came in the same week my student, Ruben, won the Singles and Doubles event at U14 Tennis Europe, so it was a real highlight in my career.

Ruben works exceptionally hard and I am so pleased for him as he deserves this fantastic achievement. He has now been offered a place at the LTA U14 National Clay Court Camp in France at the end of March, which will be an excellent opportunity to continue his development with the best players in the country.''

Assistant Head Co-Curricular, James Yates, expressed pride in Anthony's achievement, ''The award is so well deserved. Anthony is very well organised, which helps him get the most out of his players, and he puts a lot of effort into communicating with their parents. He is now amongst the county's most experienced and respected performance coaches, and we are incredibly proud of his achievement.''
