Shining Future Entrepreneurs Initiative

Published by The Beacon School on Thursday 13th of June 2024

Beacon boys were tasked with presenting their business start-up business ideas in front of a panel to mark the end of their Shining Future Entrepreneurs course. The entrepreneurial initiative is integrated as part of our Upper School ‘Shining Future Programme’.

The pupils enjoyed six informative workshop sessions ranging from business logos, USP’s, legalities, financials, marketing and sales, business structures and corporate responsibility. Following these, Beacon boys were put into teams to decide upon their own business proposition to pitch to potential investors in the ‘Shark Tank’ scenario. The modules gave the boys an insightful overview of core factors they would need to take into consideration when developing their own business ideas.

Each group devised a different business proposition. The panel of judges gave constructive feedback to each team whilst complementing what they liked about the business idea and made a decision to invest or not.

The judges had some tough decisions but after much deliberation the following boys were awarded prizes:

• Best idea went to Sam H, William, Sam K and Shaan with their Event Queuing App.
• Best presentation was awarded to Dino, Logan, Kevin and Byron whose idea was ‘changeable shoes’
• Most innovative Idea was presented to Will M-S, George, Cassius and Charlie G who had the fantastic idea of folding skis!

The judges expressed that the quality of the pitches from all was highly impressive. They are all testament to the fantastic level of teaching at The Beacon.
