Eight young people supported by Prior's Court are set to show off the fruits of their creative skills in an art exhibition showcasing works from schools from across West Berkshire.
Art pieces created by young people Dexter, Dylan, Ryan, Toby, Fredi, Ola, Theo, Thomas, and Zac from Prior’s Court were submitted to The Base’s GENerate Student Art Exhibition and have been chosen to form part of the display.
The exhibition is running from Friday, 10 January to Sunday, 26th January and celebrates art students from West Berkshire schools, sixth forms and colleges, both mainstream and special education.
The pieces have been created using a variety of natural resources, including leaves, twigs and flowers found in the woods on Prior’s Court site which have been found by the young people on scavenger hunts. They have then been used in a variety of mediums including stencils, bas relief (taking a negative impression of items in clay), and negative impressions to create beautiful pieces of art.
Sammi Yarwood, our Land-based Vocational Instructor who has been leading on this art project, said "I've been amazed and so thrilled to see so many young people getting involved in this art project and having such an amazing time with it! They have created some absolutely beautiful pieces and I am excited to be able to submit them to this exhibition and allow the young people to see the results of their hard work pay off.
"They've been absolute heros following methods and mirroring a process and all their work has been selected on merit!"
