World Book Day
Published by Stowe School on Thursday 6th of March 2025
Today we celebrate the magic of books and the joy of reading on World Book Day. Whether you love fiction, non-fiction, fantasy or history, there is a book out there waiting for you to read!
Stowe has the most inspiring and beautiful library. An elegant space featuring original two-level bookcases, an ornate ceiling, comfortable leather armchairs, and windows that provide stunning views of the Capability Brown-designed garden; truly the perfect environment for Stoics to discover new stories, revisit old favourites and explore a world of knowledge.
To celebrate World Book Day, there are many activities for pupils to participate in this week, including:
Staff Book Treasure Hunt - find as many posters as possible around the School displaying Staff members favourite books.
‘Day in the Life of a Stoic’ poetry challenge - write a poem about a day in the life of a Stoic or a Staff member and submit it to the Library.
Representatives from each House in the Third and Fourth Form will battle it out in the annual Inter-House Literary Quiz - this round will decide which House is this year's Lower School Winner!
Watch the Q&A with James Knott, Director of Cricket at Stowe and best-selling author. For anyone with a passion for cricket, James’ books are essential reading.
Finally, anyone borrowing a book this week will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a fabulous prize; happy World Book Day!
