Spanish National Debate 2025
Published by Hurstpierpoint College on Monday 10th of March 2025
At the start of March, a group of Lower Sixth students had the opportunity to represent Hurst in the National Spanish Debate Competition, held at Hampton School. Annie G, Izzie H, and Amelie B participated in the event, competing against prestigious schools such as Eton, Tonbridge School, Sevenoaks, and King’s College Wimbledon, among others.
The competition was intense, with debates where the Hurst pupils showcased a high level of argumentation and fluency in Spanish. Throughout the event, they defended their positions with conviction, addressing challenging topics and responding to their opponents’ arguments with confidence and precision.
Undoubtedly, the experience was highly enriching, as it allowed them not only to engage in debate but also to practise their language skills in a real and demanding context. Speaking fluently in Spanish and structuring well-founded arguments under pressure is no easy task, but the students rose to the challenge with great determination and enthusiasm. A truly commendable achievement!
