Rosslyn Park Sevens Tournament

Before half term, several of our pupils took part in the Rosslyn Park Sevens Tournament. This year, we had four teams competing in the tournament and a historic first for Christ College, with a girls’ team competing in the event.

The U18 boys were up first, competing in a highly competitive group. They showed great skill and scored some impressive tries, but unfortunately, they were knocked out by a strong team.

Next were the U16 boys, and the first time an U16 team from CCB have competed at Rosslyn Park. With a mix of talented players, including some U15 boys stepping up to play in the older age group, the team faced a challenging group. Despite this, the coaches were highly impressed by their performance and were encouraged by their efforts throughout the day. The future looks bright for these players.

The U13 boys, a young and energetic team, also demonstrated great potential. Despite being pulled into the tournament at the last minute and placed in a tough group with strong prep schools, the boys impressed with their performances after just a short training period.

Finally, our U18 girls made history not only as Christ College’s first ever girls’ team but also as the first girls’ team to compete at Rosslyn Park. The girls entered the tournament with low expectations and feeling very nervous, facing a difficult group with some of the top rugby schools. However, on day one, they achieved an extraordinary feat, winning all four of their group-stage games and advancing to day two!

The second day presented even greater challenges, but the girls fought valiantly, managing to score several tries and put up a strong fight. The coaching staff couldn’t have been prouder of their efforts, and the performance has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on both the school and the future of girls’ rugby at Christ College. We can’t wait to see girls’ rugby continue to grow.
