Jerudong International School (JIS) is incredibly honoured to be featured in the Spear's Schools Index 2025, which highlights the Top 100 leading private schools in the World and the Asia Pacific region.

As the only school in Brunei to receive this distinction, this recognition is a proud milestone for both JIS and the country as a whole. Notably, JIS is one of only 10 schools from the Asia Pacific region to secure a place in the Top 100 ranking, alongside prestigious schools in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

The Spear’s Schools Index is an entirely independent ranking, produced in collaboration with the Thuso Group. The selection process is overseen by an Expert Advisory Panel of leading international educationalists. This panel, jointly chaired by Matthew Goldie-Scot, Managing Director at Thuso Group, and Aisha Alli, Head of Research at Spear’s, evaluates schools based on a broad range of criteria.

The index evaluates schools based not only on academic performance but also on their pastoral care, cultural values and overall reputation. Schools featured in the index are recognised for their ability to provide a holistic, world-class education.

This recognition reaffirms the school’s commitment to delivering an outstanding education that nurtures well-rounded individuals. At JIS, education extends far beyond academics. The school excels in enrichment and co-curricular activities, offering students global opportunities for growth in sports, music, drama, leadership and community service.

This holistic approach is further reflected in the school’s previous honours, including the COBIS Patron's Accreditation, which made JIS the first international school worldwide to receive Beacon Status for ‘Boarding Provision’, ‘Student Welfare’ and ‘Extra-Curricular, Enrichment & Engagement’. Additionally, JIS was honoured with the Global Eco Schools Green Flag Award for its commitment to incorporating sustainable practices into the curriculum, resources and school environment.

Executive Principal at JIS, Nicholas Sheehan, commented: "We are incredibly proud to be recognised among the world’s top private schools. This ranking reflects the commitment of our students, staff and school community to delivering a world-class education that nurtures excellence in all aspects of life. It is an honour to represent Brunei on this international stage and we remain dedicated to providing an enriching and transformative learning experience for every student at JIS."
