Student achieves Highest Mark in the World for A Level examination

Jerudong International School (JIS) is delighted to announce the extraordinary achievement of recent graduate Yong Tsen Lim in the 2024 Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards (OPLA). These awards honour the highest-performing students worldwide in Pearson Edexcel qualifications.
Yong Tsen Lim, a Bruneian graduate of JIS, achieved the Highest Mark in the World for his Pearson Edexcel International A Level Economics qualification. He also earned the Highest Mark in Brunei Darussalam for his A Level Physics examination.
Dan Roberts, Assistant Head of Senior School and Economics Teacher, commented: “Yong’s genuine interest in the subject and relentless determination set him up for success. He constantly approached every lesson with enthusiasm and demonstrated a level of discipline that is truly inspiring. It has been an absolute privilege to teach him and witness his growth.”
Executive Principal Nicholas Sheehan shared: “Yong Tsen’s outstanding achievements are a testament to his incredible dedication. To achieve the Highest Mark in the World for A Level Economics and excel in Physics at a national level is an extraordinary accomplishment. His success is a reflection of his hard work, the support of his family and the unwavering commitment of our teachers. We wish him luck as he pursues Economics at the University of Warwick.”
