Daniel is this year's Young Musician of the Year 2025.
We are thrilled to announce that Daniel has been crowned Young Musician of the Year 2025, triumphing in a competition that showcased the incredible musical talent at Chigwell.
Daniel reflects on his recent success: "Chigwell’s Young Musician of the Year (which definitely is not named after the BBC’s Young Musician of the Year) is the music school’s flagship solo performance event, with the music scholars and other talented musicians competing against each other in an attempt to win. Within the senior category, I was fortunate enough to be able to take the trophy home this year, despite the highly competitive selection of finalists this year; to be honest, I thought I would have no chance of winning. Noah’s masterful arrangements of iconic jazz pieces captivated the audience, while Kabir played the saxophone with great nuance and emotion as Sam played highly technical licks on the trumpet and Joe’s voice soared through the audience. I played two pieces: one of which was on the marimba, and the other on bongos, utilising unorthodox playing methods as well as spoken word. The adjudicator, Jeffery Wilson, created a welcoming and friendly environment, which greatly helped with the nerves that I most certainly was dealing with on the night."
Mr Bluff, Director of Music at Chigwell School, commented: "This year's Young Musician of the Year competition was an excellent display of the breadth of musical output at Chigwell. There was strong competition in the Junior and Senior categories, with several instrumentalists and singers. Congratulations to Milan and Daniel on winning their respective categories, and my thanks to Jeffery Wilson for adjudicating with constructive feedback and entertaining anecdotes throughout the day!"
