HEAD’S UPDATE
Published by St Mary's Calne on Monday 30th of June 2025
Dear Parents,
It certainly feels like summer has arrived in Calne, with blue skies and sunshine blessing us for most of the week. We will ensure plenty of water and sunscreen are available on Saturday for Sports Day, as the warm weather looks set to continue.
There is much excitement building for Sports Day and I truly appreciate the enthusiasm for sport and physical activity here at Calne. It is not just about being the best you can be, it is about taking part, representing the school, being part of a team, learning to win graciously, and developing resilience when results do not go your way.
I am also very much looking forward to this evening’s Summer Music Showcase. Our performers have invested so much hard work and dedication in preparing for tonight’s concert. With a programme spanning from Puccini to Smokey Robinson, and The Pixies in between, it promises to be a memorable and entertaining evening.
I had the pleasure of visiting the A Level Art exhibition earlier this week and was truly astounded by the exceptional quality of work produced by our UVI pupils. The creativity and skill on display are outstanding. I warmly encourage you to visit the exhibition on Founders’ Day in Top Hall. You will be blown away. Congratulations to all the brilliant artists whose work is showcased.
I am sure the UV and UVI will be relieved that the A Level and GCSE exam season has almost concluded. I remain impressed by their diligence and determination, and hope they enjoy a well-deserved break.
I look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming events as the academic year draws to a close.
With best wishes,
Anne Wakefield
