The Vitality T20 Women’s Cricket County Cup comes to Christ College Brecon!

Published by Christ College on Wednesday 21st of May 2025

On Saturday 17th May, we were honoured to host the third round of the Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup between Glamorgan Cricket Club and Lancashire Thunder at Christ College Brecon.

The event began with our U14 cricket team, and the Glamorgan junior team welcoming the players on to the pitch. This was a fantastic opportunity for our players to be a part of this historic event, and they thoroughly enjoyed waving the Glamorgan flags in support of the team.

It was a special occasion for Year 13 pupil, Eve, who was recently selected for the Glamorgan Women’s Squad as she stepped out onto the field right here on her own school grounds, a pitch she has looked out over from her boarding house for many years. The whole school community was cheering her and the team on, and it was an incredible atmosphere pitch side, with visitors enjoying the sunshine and a burger or ice cream!

It was an honour to watch Sophie Eccleston and Emma Lamb who are current England Women’s squad members playing for Lancashire on Christ College grounds. Lamb scored her third consecutive half century before losing her wicket to Eve J!  It was a privilege for the college to host such a high-profile women’s game of cricket. Congratulations to Lancashire Thunder on their win.

A huge thanks to The Society of Friends for providing refreshments throughout the day, and to Hills for providing delicious burgers for our visitors!

It’s been a busy term of cricket so far and there’s plenty more to come!

If you are interested in finding out more about the cricket programme at Christ College, book a visit, meet the team and see what the school has to offer.
