IMPACT Roadshow
Published by Dover College on Monday 23rd of June 2025
On Monday 23rd June, our Remove pupils had the opportunity to attend the IMPACT Roadshow – an inspiring and informative event focused on making positive choices and staying safe. Jeremy Inidika opened the session with a powerful and personal message about the importance of speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. Sharing his own experience of sexual abuse, Jeremy reinforced the importance of consent, body safety, and having the courage to talk to a trusted adult. He also encouraged students to pause and reflect before reacting emotionally in the moment – a valuable life skill. We then heard from Dita Garbo, a vibrant drag queen, who addressed the dangers of tombstoning – the practice of jumping into water from height. Dita spoke about the life-changing consequences this risky behaviour can have and urged students to think carefully before taking such chances. The final speakers tackled a growing concern among young people – vaping. They spoke about the harmful effects of vaping, including the risk of “popcorn lung,” the chemical contents of vapes, and current legislation. Their key message was clear: if you don’t smoke, don’t vape. To round off the event, Dita Garbo returned to the stage with a lively performance to popular Dua Lipa songs, bringing energy to what had been a thought-provoking and educational presentation.
We are incredibly grateful to the IMPACT team for delivering such an important programme, and we hope pupils will take these messages forward with them in their daily lives.
