Taking to the Slopes
Published by Mayville High School on Tuesday 1st of April 2025
We returned to Sestriere, nestled in the heart of the Alps for this year’s ski trip. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by perfect weather conditions: fresh powder on our first day followed by a stunning week of bright, sunny skies that provided the ideal backdrop for our skiing escapades.
The group of 41 pupils included a diverse range of skiers with varying levels of experience, from high-spirited beginners who were learning the basics to skilled intermediate and advanced skiers ready to tackle the more challenging slopes. The enthusiasm among the students was palpable, with each one showing eagerness to enhance their skiing abilities while enjoying the thrill of the mountains.
Our instructors were top-notch, combining expertise with a contagious passion for the sport. They guided our students through lessons tailored to their individual skill levels, ensuring that everyone felt both challenged and supported.
A stand-out moment in our week was Fancy Dress Wednesday, where the students dressed up in an array of imaginative costumes, including an inflatable dinosaur that became an instant hit! Everyone enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere, which fostered great team spirit and unforgettable memories.
We are immensely proud of our pupils, who showcased not only their determination to learn and improve but also a genuine spirit of adventure
